I never thought it could happen, but it did! And it kind of happened by “accident”.
A dear friend of mine gave me a subscription to an online writing opportunity called “Storyworth”. Every week they emailed me a question to answer about my life. And every week I would write a story to answer the question. Eventually, I realized I could write my own questions. In the process, I began to incorporate some of my blog stories into my “Storyworth” book.
At the end of the year, “Storyworth” printed one beautiful, hardcover book and sent it to me. I decided to purchase several more copies to give to my kids and grandkids for Christmas. I had been wanting to leave a legacy to them and thought this book might be a meaningful gift.
In fact, that’s why I have even been writing my “A Seasoned Life” blog. God has done so much for me and in me, I simply want to pass it on to whoever might be interested.
As word about my book began to spread, many of my friends expressed how much they would like a copy, but at $40 per copy, I figured that’s pretty expensive. Then my dear daughter, Shannon, wrote a very complimentary Facebook post about my book. From that post many more people expressed how much they would like a copy.
And so began the grueling process of publishing my book on Amazon. Someone told me it was an easy process. Ummm … maybe for them, but for technologically-challenged me, NOT! However, after many weeks and blood, sweat and tears and hair-pulling and a few exasperated screams, a little advice from a graphic artist friend and lots and lots of prayer, I finally did it!
One of the requirements for publishing a book on Amazon is to write a description of your book, so here it is:
“In this memoir, Donna transparently pours out her heart as she vividly recounts stories of her life, answering questions in an in-depth “interview”. Her stories are sprinkled with warmth, whimsical humor, homespun wisdom and profound spiritual insights gleaned from her life-long love of Jesus.
Her road has been filled with love, joy, laughter, courage, perseverance and heart-wrenching, poignant moments. But through it all she emerges “Grateful”. And in this book she invites you to travel the road with her.
So why did she entitle this book “Grateful”? It’s because – SHE IS!“
So, here’s a little advertisement, just in case you’re interested. You can find my 344-page book on Amazon, in either paperback ($17.99) or Kindle ($7.99) versions. I might do a hardcover version one of these days but for right now, I’m done – I’m so done!
Just do a search in the Amazon search bar:
book Grateful Donna McIntyre
and it should pop up.
… and some day, I hope to publish my blog into a book too. But I’m not finished with that yet. I’ll get back to writing more of my blog soon. Stay tuned…
And just to let you know, I’m so “Grateful!” for all of your interest and encouragement. It means more to me than you’ll ever know.
Congratulations!
Thank you, Valorie!
